Spearheaded by the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, the weeklong festival is a literal and figurative parade of events, culminating in the Calle Ocho Festival, a celebration of Hispanic and Latin American culture in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood. More than one million revelers came out for its 40th anniversary this year. Next: March 3-11, 2018

Organizers added something new to the festival for its 55th anniversary. “Delray Affair After Dark” was created to keep some of the more than 110,000 people who attend the 12-block arts and crafts festival in downtown Delray Beach for the evening. Around 10,000 people participated in this long-running H.I.V./AIDS prevention and awareness event in Miami Beach, which raised $250,000 for community health center Care Resource. Next: November 23-27, 2017

An estimated one million people watch some 100 vessels make their way through a 12-mile route along Intracoastal Waterway and nearby waterways in this parade, which celebrated its 45th anniversary last year. This year features a "Broadway on Parade" theme. Next: December 9, 2017

Organizers estimated that more than 135,000 people participated in the festival, which this year added a memorial to the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting. For the parade, organizers named four grand marshals. Next: April 6-8, 2018

The celebration of Caribbean culture attracted 15,000 colorfully costumed masqueraders, competing with displays of Caribbean music and dance. Some 45,000 people fill the Miami-Dade County Fairgrounds to experience island cuisine and steel drums. Next: October 8, 2017

The L.G.B.T.Q. festival brings some 7,000 revelers to Miami Beach for a weekend of pool and nightclub parties to celebrate lesbian pride and raise money for lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women’s initiatives. This year’s festival included a men’s event on Sunday and a “prom night” event on Friday. Next: May 2018
