GLOBAL: The Laureus World Sports Awards will take place in person for the first time since the pandemic on May 8 in Paris, France. The Awards Show will honor the most memorable sporting performances of 2022, including the Laureus Sport for Good Award, which recognizes either an individual or an organization who has made a significant contribution in transforming the lives of children and young people through sport.
CALGARY: The Calgary Career Fair will take place on May 10 at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre. The event aims to connect candidates with hiring companies, government, employment services, colleges, and universities, and features dozens of exhibitors. The fair is free for candidates and will run from 1-4 p.m.
MONTREAL: The Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival will celebrate 25 years with an in-person program April 27-30 at Hotel 10. Pre-festival events have already commenced, like Margaret Attwood’s discussion of her latest collection of short stories, Old Babes in the Wood. Throughout the rest of the festival, attendees can expect live interviews, roundtable discussions, public readings, debates, masterclasses, writing workshops, and more.
The South Asian Film Festival of Montreal will take place April 28-May 12 in collaboration with Cinémathèque Québécoise and Ville de Saguenay. The festival highlights thought-provoking films that focus on the South Asian region, and will feature 58 award-winning films from 12 different countries, including All that Breathes, plus an Oscar nominee and Cannes and Sundance award winner. Tickets to the fest range from free to $12 depending on the film.
SQUAMISH, B.C.: The Squamish Beer Festival will take place on June 24 at Loggers Sports Grounds. The event will feature 120 craft beverages from 40-plus breweries and cideries, as well as food, lawn games, and music. Tickets are available for purchase online.
