What I do: I am the owner and founder of Animatic Media. Aside from running the day-to-day activities at Animatic, I work on the frontlines with our clients, production team and vendor partners to orchestrate the best events possible. I am always researching or creating new technologies to bring as offerings to our clients to give them and their audiences unique, polished experiences at their events. I also pride myself on being a master negotiator to assist my clients in contract negotiations getting them the most bang for their buck.
How I got here: About 24 years ago I was working for a production company and found myself selling creative that they were not able to execute. It didn’t take me long to figure out that I could accomplish these goals for clients, and at my client’s request. That’s when Animatic Media was born.
Greatest career accomplishment: We were the first company to mount a plasma screen to a podium and create the supporting content for it. Before the days of media servers, we figured out a way to do content for three-screen synchronized screens.
Impressive stats: We retain about 80 percent of our clients year over year. Our average client has been with us for more than 15 years. And I have a few that have been using us for 25 years. We typically come in 30 percent lower than other AV companies and provide more personalized service pre-event and on-site.
Specific improvement I’ve made: In 2010, we launched Conference-On-Demand.net, a portal to synchronize slides and presenter video online. We have kept refining this offering by adding presentation downloads and e-commerce for session sales.
What I am working on now: I am developing an augmented reality service specifically for the events industry. This new technology can be used in a general session room, exhibits and even in the marketing/signage around the event. This will be the next big thing and I’m extremely excited about it.
