What I do: I oversee Isagenix’s event culture in North America and define how we infiltrate the 13 countries Isagenix is in. I am responsible for nearly 60 events per year in North America, our largest being Celebration, which has 14,000 attendees and spans four days. Our events are our company’s platform for driving our brand, products, business, and personal and professional development.
How I got here: I’m persistent—borderline annoying—and can somewhat become a stalker when I want something! In sales for an event production company, I “stalked” Isagenix for six months to get them as a client. Frequent office drop-ins, endless emails, calls, snail mail, etc. My final approach: I sent life-size boxes full of balloons, confetti, party hats, horns, streamers and a note saying, “Let me help you celebrate Celebration.” The day after, I got a call from Isagenix saying they were allowing me to bid on their next event. I won the bid and worked as a vendor, their executive producer, for four years. In 2013, they hired me to be their full-time internal director of events.
My greatest career accomplishment: On my desk I have a North America and International Gold Stevie Award for best conference in 2016; however, that isn’t my greatest accomplishment. I look outside my office at the extraordinary, talented event team around me. I’m most proud of them. These trophies wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for them. It takes an army to execute what we do, and I will always strive to create these experiences with the greatest team and bring together invaluable event partners who support our vision.
Impressive stats: From 2014 to 2015, our event attendance grew by almost 60 percent. We are currently selling out of all our events and have hit the maximum capacity at many convention centers and arenas conducive to our event culture. My event team had to double with that growth too.
A specific improvement I’ve made: My first demand was a new events website and then a full suite of event management software. Our events app has changed our event culture. It’s engaging, informative, user-friendly and provides our company endless platforms to drive our ROI.
What I’m working on: Continuing our reach using our mobile solutions and expanding our internal processes globally is a big focus. Also, I’m elated to work with Tony Robbins at our flagship 2017 event, which will have nearly 14,000 attendees in Las Vegas and hopefully thousands more watching via live stream.
What I do outside of work: When you love what you do, you do it all the time. I research events, attend events, plan events, read event magazines and publications, and attend event conferences. I’m a bit obsessed. I love traveling, spending time with my family, watching the Kansas Jayhawks, attending and watching sporting events, electronic/progressive trance music and making the most out of every holiday.
