Kayla Schwenk
27, Assistant Director of Meetings and Events, Paragon Events
Delray Beach, Florida
A lady should never share her age… or at least that’s what Schwenk, assistant director of meetings and events at association management company Paragon Events, hoped would happen when she entered the industry at a young age. The planner began her career as an intern at Paragon before moving up to event coordinator. Although she was always a little self-conscious about others knowing the amount of years she had been at the helm of large meetings, Schwenk never let numbers define her or what she could achieve. These days, she organizes events both nationwide and internationally for groups of 20 to 2,500 people, and is described as “the glue that holds our entire company together” by colleague Kacey Mullaney, and, in 2014, was recognized by the “Sun Sentinel” as a "meeting planner on the move." When Schwenk isn’t planning the company’s next big event in the health care, software or retail industries, she spends her time on the tennis court—a passion she hopes to one day bring to her career by getting more involved in the sports planning world.
