Cookbook Feted at Luxe Esquire Apartment

It was a packed house last Monday night when we stopped by Esquire’s swanky temporary venue—dubbed Esquire Downtown at Astor Place—for the party to celebrate Ted Allen’s new cookbook (he’s the foodie on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy). The apartment—a 5,500-square-foot, $12 million property in the new curvy residential tower designed by Charles Gwathmey and Robert Siegel and ironically situated opposite Kmart—includes rooms designed by Eric Cohler for Louis Vuitton and David Monn for Jhane Barnes, among others. Esquire associate publisher Stephen Jacoby oversaw the party, which is one of 10 major events that the magazine is hosting at the temporary space through early December. Last Monday’s event featured live and silent auctions that benefited God’s Love We Deliver and included catering by Danny Meyer’s new Hudson Yards Catering division (the exclusive caterer for the promotional venue) and check-in staff from Posh Ability.
