This Week: Film and Music Fests Open on the Beach

Five short films and three bands are featured Friday and Saturday at the Birch Creek Film Festival at Opium Garden on Miami Beach… The 13th annual Festival of Lights begins Friday at Silver Springs Park in Central Florida. The event runs until December 30 and includes neon displays, strolling carolers, and lighted boat parade… The Bang Music Festival debuts Saturday at Bicentennial Park. More than 60 artists will take the stage during the 13-hour festival, put on by Haddad Productions LLC.

Tuesday, November 29: The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach is hosting the Master's Mystery Art Show, a "whodunit" event, with Complot magazine to celebrate the opening of Art Basel Miami Beach… The Museum of Contemporary Artin North Miami hosts the Art in AmericaParty with works by Pablo Cano, Albert Oehlen, and Isaac Julien… Drawings by William Kentridge are featured at Miami Art Central's Art Basel opening bash… Wednesday, November 30: Art Basel Miami Beach's exclusive preopening event takes place at the Miami Beach Convention Center… Not to be outdone, the Bass Museum of Art opens an event with video installations from Le Fond National d'Art Contemporain… Thursday, December 1: Art Basel Miami Beach officially opens to the public at the Miami Beach Convention Center and runs through December 4… Friday, December 2: During Art Basel, the Miami Performing Arts Center is presenting its first large-scale event, "Cars & Fish." The outdoor digital art installation will project images on the center with music created by video artist Charles Recher and composer Gustavo MatamorosArrive, the new boutique in South Beach, is hosting June 13, the designer collection of Dr. Romanelli and Jose Parla. Mansion is hosting the after-party, and the line officially debuts the next day at Art Basel… Best Buddies is hosting Wine and Friendship, a fund-raising event at Nikki Marina, which is providing hors d'oeuvres. Southern Wine & Spirits of America is sponsoring the beverages… The Plant City Winter Lights Spectacular at McCall Park runs until December 3, featuring holiday music and craft vendors, live entertainment, refreshments, and nearly 12 tons of snow… The Plant City Bike Fest takes place on eight square blocks near the Plant City Train Depot. There will be food and products for sale from 70 vendors and sponsors, as well as thousands of motorcycles on display… The Winter Fine Arts Festival takes place until December 4 on West Dearborn Street in Englewood. More than 100 artisans will display their two- or three-dimensional work for the best of show prize. All proceeds will benefit the Englewood Rotary Youth Foundation.
