The Rodeo Drive Committee and the City of Beverly Hills honored Iman and Italian fashion house Missoni—which is having a big year, with its wildly successful Target collection—with the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Award at an award ceremony on Sunday on the shopping street. Rachel Zoe presented the award to Iman, and Quincy Jones presented to the Missoni family. The evening also included a silent auction benefiting Save the Children, which managed the fund-raising aspect of the program. Craig Donahue of the Donahue Group, who has produced the event since its inception in 2003, collaborated with the Rodeo Drive Committee on the event.
The 400 block of Rodeo Drive was closed to traffic and transformed into a cocktail party for the occasion. The evening’s guests arrived on a bright pink carpet in honor of Missoni, and lounged on couches and ottomans adorned with the brand's pillows while listening to DJ Samantha Ronson. Inflatable walls washed in color bookended the reception space on the street, with giant inflatable stars from Air Dimensional Design on the median strip and at arrival areas adding to the decor. Italian-inspired buffets came from Along Came Mary, and guests flowed in and out of the Missoni store for cocktails.
Sponsors for the event included the City of Beverly Hills, the Beverly Hills Hotel, The Hollywood Reporter, Margaret Maldonado Agency, the Italian Trade Commission, Consulate General of Italy, and Glasshouse Fragrances.
Iman and Missoni were the 17th and 18th award recipients, respectively, inducted into the Walk of Style, following previous honorees like Fred Hayman, Princess Grace (Kelly) of Monaco, Cartier, Manolo Blahnik, Gianni and Donatella Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Tom Ford. Giorgio Armani was the first recipient, in 2003.
Both of this year's honorees received plaques on Rodeo Drive, with their signature and quote, which will be embedded permanently in the sidewalk. Iman’s quote reads “Fashion and Cinema are global trends … from Hong Kong to Hollywood.” The Missoni plaque includes the quote “Life is more with colors.”
