Eco-conscious nonprofit Conservation International brought a jungle to Santa Monica Airport’s Hangar 8. But not to worry: the big game was only two-dimensional. To decorate the organization’s 10th annual fund-raising dinner—and to demonstrate its mission that humans should live in harmony with nature—volunteer event planner and designer Barbara Bauer hired Images by Lighting to deck the massive room in large-scale projections that changed periodically among different rainforest and jungle flora and fauna, including monkeys, frogs, big cats, and exotic flowers. (The projections came from photographs taken by wildlife photographer Frans Lanting.)The Discovery Channel’s Animal Planet host Jeff Corwin was the evening’s M.C., and among the 400 guests were celebrity supporters of environmental causes such as Harrison Ford, Calista Flockhart, Tom Brokaw, and Harvey Weinstein.
