* INCOMING *
1. LACMA LAUNCHES GALA: The Los Angeles County Museum of Art debuted what it hopes will be an annual fund-raiser on Saturday night, drawing, according to the L.A. Times, "the sort of celebrity wattage that one normally associates with award shows and movie premieres. ‘Art + Film’ was intended as a tribute to the overlapping worlds of cinema and the visual arts, though judging by the attendance roster the emphasis was more on the former than the latter." Held under a massive heated tent in the main Lacma courtyard, the party raised $3 million.

More marathon art: Filmmaker Jeff Scher made this short video for The New York Times: "It was shot with a point and shoot camera that I tricked into shooting out of focus...The runners became like a huge single organism, a kind of sneakered river of humanity."

3. SOCIAL EFFECT ON MARKETING: At the Geo Loo conference last week, Facebook brand experience manager Paul Adams said that going forward, "People listen to their friends. They don't listen to businesses." Adweek: "Instead of trying to broadcast their message to a wide swath of consumers, marketers need to think about reaching these small groups of social influence. And that means, [according to Adams,] 'the era of push marketing is over, or it's ending.'"

4. CELEB TWITTER ENDORSEMENTS: The AP reports that celebrities can get up to $10,000 per tweet—that's $71 per character. "These celebs aren't just writing about family cars and fashion choices for the heck of it. Stars can get paid big bucks to pontificate about clothes, cars and movies in the 140 characters or less allowed per tweet. … The list of celebs and the things they hawk is long and getting longer all the time. The endorsements range from subtle to blatant; the celeb pairings from sensible to downright odd."
