July 15, 2014: Yahoo and Live Nation Announce Year of Streaming Concerts, Austin City Limits Debuts Luxury Porta-Potty, Hotel Serves Cocktail From Glass Louboutin Slipper

YAHOO AND LIVE NATION ANNOUNCE YEAR OF STREAMING CONCERTS: Beginning tonight with a Dave Matthews Band concert in Jacksonville, Florida, Yahoo and Live Nation will kick off 365 days of live-streamed concerts featuring artists such as Justin Timberlake, Usher, and Kiss. The New York Times: “If successful, the program will help establish Screen, Yahoo’s video site and competitor to YouTube. And for Live Nation, the world’s biggest concert promoter, and the rest of the music industry, it could create a franchise for online concerts, which have long been promoted as the next big thing, but, despite many attempts, have never quite caught on with consumers.” http://nyti.ms/1oDArxY

2. AUSTIN CITY LIMITS DEBUTS EXCLUSIVE LUXURY PORTA-POTTY: Festival bathrooms don’t have the best reputation, but Austin City Limits Music Festival will change that for winners of a contest to use a new “Golden Porta Potty,” a blinged-out stall with some major perks: Wi-Fi, a live feed of the festival, air-conditioning, a phone charger, and a crystal chandelier. The fest is sponsoring a contest to win 10 passes to the golden-hued bathroom, along with 10 single-day tickets. 3. HOTEL SERVES COCKTAIL FROM GLASS LOUBOUTIN SLIPPER: The Ritz London debuted a new cocktail in homage to actress Tallulah Bankhead, who once sipped champagne from her own footwear at a press conference at the hotel. Women’s Wear Daily: “As part of its summer menu, the legendary Mayfair hotel has introduced a new concoction, The Tallulah, presented in a striking black shoe with a glass heel designed by Christian Louboutin. … Blending Piper Heidsieck champagne with jasmine pearl tea, geranium essence, Cinzano Bianco and shochu (a distilled Japanese spirit), The Tallulah is available at The Ritz London this season for 20 pounds, or $34 at current exchange.” http://bit.ly/1nrO3uZ
