DKNY Jeans Fetes Films
DKNY Jeans took advantage of the eve of Fashion Week to promote its brand and put its name behind the latest installment of Palm Pictures’ Directors Label DVD series. Taking over the Gallery Holasek Weir in west Chelsea (the former El Flamingo club space), Richard Brown—a producer for the series, and a consultant for Palm—worked with Tom Palmer, director of production at Syndicate, to put together the event. Levy Lighting filled the room with red light, and rather than use static gobos to project the DKNY Jeans logo throughout the space, designer Ira Levy made the logo gradually fade and reappear in random spots, while projections of films from four of the directors in the series—Mark Romanek, Stéphane Sednaoui, Anton Corbijn, and Jonathan Glazer—played on the walls. —Mark Mavrigian
For Libertine, Harvard Club Gets Hip
It’s probably not often that the clientele at the Harvard Club—with its older, stodgier, and wealthier leanings—sees an au courant crowd like it did when up-and-coming label Libertine hosted the party after its fashion show at the members-only Midtown venue. Swarovski sponsored the event, hanging crystals from glass candlesticks on tallboys and donating some sparkling gifts for guests: limited edition black crystal-encrusted Swiss Army knives. —Alesandra Dubin
