For event-savvy guests, go beyond the expected by arranging one of these three out-of-the-ordinary ideas for entertainment and activities.
1. Avoid ho-hum entertainment options—and get the group talking—by booking Metalachi, a band that claims to be the world's first and only heavy-metal mariachi cover band. The members have an out-there stage presence and wear giant sombreros and face paint. The group is available for corporate event booking, with a ballpark price range of $1,000 to $2,000.
2. The blow-dry-only chain Drybar has been on a roll opening new locations, with more in the works. For a female-centric pampering event, host a group at one of the spots. Brentwood has eight chairs, and can be booked for $600 per hour. Studio City has 10 chairs, and can be booked for $800 per hour. In West Hollywood, there are 12 chairs, and the space rents for $800 hour. Another cost-saving option is to book a block of individual appointments around the same time at $35 per blowout, or even a single appointment, for a smaller group or client gift. In keeping with the bar theme, drinks are available, too.
3. Kimberly Berg, known for her appearances and psychic readings on American Idol, is available for psychic readings at events. Alternately, her company Psychic Fortunes has recently announced a new offering right for a lighthearted corporate gift: She now creates fortune cookies, which can be customized to include messages specific to a brand or even a specific guest. The planner provides Berg with a list of guest names, and she creates personal readings for each. The conversation-starting fortunes run $10 apiece.
