In a playful nod to real-time social media, the Mint Agency created a physical photo timeline that ran down the wall of the reception for the "Conversations in Design: Trailblazers and Trendspotters" speaker series on January 25. “Our brief was to create a series of small, interactive vignettes to engage guests, though without asking too much involvement from them,” said Euan Lampitt, vice president of the Mint Agency. "Sometimes people can be a little reticent to participate."

The photo timeline was a hit, and attendees made regular stops to check out the installation's progression and find themselves among the shots.

Photographer Juli Zall circulated during the event, snapping candid guest photos on a Fujifilm Instax, a camera similar to a Polaroid that develops film instantly. The timeline was marked for each hour of the party, and photos were added as they were taken. “It worked really well,” Lampitt said. “As the evening developed, so did our installation, leaving us with an ordered visual representation of events at the end of the night.” The Mint Agency’s next step will be turning the timeline digital and adding the photos onto Facebook.

The reception for the speaker series was held in conjunction with the Interior Design Show and attracted 300 guests. Relative Space hosted the party.
