A Downtown Steakhouse With an Asian Slant

E7512standalone
When Jason Ha opened his Zip Fusion Sushi in a nondescript, decrepit downtown neighborhood in 2002, his family and friends thought he was crazy. In fact, he was a pioneer. Riding on the success of that eclectic spot in the arts district, Ha recently opened E3rd Steakhouse nearby. The steak house has taken over a historic 1920’s garage and features an original trussed-beam high ceiling, metal accents, and custom-designed light fixtures. In addition to the long, narrow dining room, there’s a heated back garden patio and a lounge with four flat-screen TVs. DJs spin weekend sets. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner; the menu focuses on classic steak-house fare with a Korean and Japanese bent: Imperial short ribs, snow crab and seaweed tower, kimchi mashed potatoes, and other steaks and seafood round out the offerings. The space holds 110 for seated events or 200 for receptions. Individually, the dining area seats 60, the patio seats 30, and the lounge seats 20. Lesley Balla
