A slew of new and revamped spas and salons offer high-end pampering options for stressed-out guests. Here are five to check out.
1. After a significant expansion project that connected the Palazzo and the Venetian, the 134,000-square-foot Canyon Ranch SpaClub unveiled in September 2008 what it bills as the country’s first “Aquavana,” a series of hot and cold water treatments. The spa and fitness center also features 80 treatment rooms, a 40-foot climbing wall, fitness classes, nutritionists, and spa standards like facials and massages. A grill restaurant accommodates groups of 20 in a private space.
2. In December 2007, Kim Vo opened a salon outpost at the Mirage. A nail salon can be bought out for groups of as many as 50, and the hotel can supply a bar and snacks. A barbershop provides grooming services targeted at men, while the Beauty Bar offers preview options and consultations. Architropolis designed the space, which employs a high-contrast color scheme of black, charcoal, taupe, white, and silver.
3. Open since March 2008, the 11,000-square-foot Spa at Trump in the Trump International Hotel & Tower features nine treatment rooms and a hair and nail salon. The spa offers Vegas-appropriate treatments like the “Sun Worshipper Body Wrap,” intended to rehydrate skin after sun exposure, and the “Morning After Eye Cure,” meant to reduce puffiness and dark circles. Adjoining the property’s pool and fitness center, the spa can accommodate small groups for spa events in the nine treatment rooms.
4. Color, a salon by Michael Boychuck, opened in late 2007 in the new Augustus Tower at Caesars Palace. Besides receiving standard services, guests can sip champagne and specialty teas from ceremonial vessels. A Lather Lounge is devoted entirely to shampooing and conditioning. The salon also offers eyelash extensions and makeup applications, plus manicures and pedicures. Groups of 30 can come for nail services in intervals.
5. The new Palms Place property debuted Drift Spa, which features more than 20 treatment rooms and a traditional Turkish coed hammam with mosaic-tiled booth benches and mood lighting. There are also indoor hot and cool soaking pools, a steam room and sauna, and private outdoor garden lounges. The property’s Primp salon also offers hair and nail care. The spa is equipped to handle eight guests at a time, and can accommodate bigger groups for rotating treatments.
