WonderWorks, an indoor amusement park, has created Orlando’s only indoor ropes course at its entertainment complex on International Drive. Groups of 20 people can climb three stories of ropes on the top floor of the structure, referred to as the Basement since the building is made to look as if it is upside-down.
The Adventure Ropes Course includes 20 obstacles and activities, including a tire traverse, suspension bridges, and swinging beams. The entire course is suspended above the gaming area that has activities such as air hockey, Guitar Hero, and Dance Dance Revolution. Though there is no separation between the course and games, guests are harnessed to the ropes to provide personal security.
WonderWorks also added a new 4-D theater with seating for 12 on the Basement level. Inside the theater, guests can watch one of three 3.5-minute movies that include motion in the seats and other special effects. Next door to the theater, Lazer Tag can accommodate groups of 20 to 25 players at a time, with each game lasting about seven and a half minutes.
The entire 10,000-square-foot Basement level can be rented out for as many as 125 people, with unlimited use of the Adventure Ropes Course, 4-D Theater, Lazer Tag, and arcade games. There is room for 10 cocktail tables amid the games. The WonderWorks kitchen can provide food such as pizza and salads, or an outside caterer can be used.
The first floor of WonderWorks also has a 1,500-square-foot banquet room with a built-in stage and seating for 125. The room hosts a twice-nightly magic and comedy dinner show. The remainder of the first floor and the entire second floor have more than 100 science-based interactive exhibits. The entire building can host groups of 1,000 for buyouts.
