Just down the street from its original incarnation on 63rd Street, the new Iridium Jazz Club on 51st and Broadway offers a brand-new Meyer Sound system (co-designed by guitar legend Les Paul), a live recording studio and a fresh design by architects Bogdanow and Partners. The subterranean space features simple square light fixtures hanging from the ceilings, wood cocktail and dinner tables and black-washed wood chairs. The venue can hold 130 for a sit-down event, and offers New American fare and an extensive wine list. And of course, there's the jazz: Artists such as Ahmad Jamal, McCoy Tyner, Jackie Terrasson and Paul are slated to perform this year.
