The Dime’s owner, Andy Fiscella, has opened another cool neighborhood hangout, on a dim strip of Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood. Winston’s shuns the typical lounge vibe found everywhere these days—there’s no velvet rope, no list, and no cover charge. The dark bar features lots of wood, smooth leather banquettes, heavy mirrors, and eclectic flea-market art on the walls (everything from images of women that look like romance novel covers to paintings of tall ships). Since Fiscella and co-owner Chris Huvane (GQ’s West Coast editor) are both connected to the entertainment industry, Winston’s attracts a slew of screenwriters, producers, actors, actor wannabes, and celebrities—and yet it somehow keeps a low-key vibe, at least on weekdays. (Weekends are packed.) GQ and Entourage have already used the space for events; the room holds about 150 for receptions. —Lesley Balla
