Officials Expect Battle of Bids Over Tavern on the Green

In a March report from The New York Post, Donald Trump expressed interest in taking over Tavern on the Green. (The Central Park institution's agreement with the Parks Department ends in December 2009.) And last Friday, The New York Observer's interview with parks commissioner Adrian Benepe added restaurateur Danny Meyer and Boathouse in Central Park owner Dean Poll to the list of potential contenders. This isn't to say that the LeRoy family, which currently holds the contract, won't be fighting for the license. When the proposals start coming in (as early as the beginning of next year), expect the competition to get heated.
