On January 10, the Ritz-Carlton, South Beach threw its first Full Moon party at the DiLido Beach Club, in an effort to draw more area residents to the property.
"We want people to look at DiLido Beach Club and Ritz-Carlton, South Beach as a place to come in the afternoon for drinks, light snacks, or happy hour," said Jenni Greenspan, public relations manager for the hotel. "So we created an event that showcases our location, with the ocean and beach as a backdrop, and figured, 'What better time than when the full moon is in full view?'"
Nearly 400 guests attended the inaugural party to sample resident chef and Top Chef contestant Jeff McInnes' Mediterranean fare and the watermelon "liquid nitrogen" mojito, one of five specialty rum cocktails created for the monthly celebrations. Hookahs loaded with complimentary flavored tobacco and DJ Edwin Adams were also on hand for guests who wanted to relax and those ready to dance. And high-tech telescopes were set up in the grass for guests to get a closer look at the heavenly guest of honor.
The next party is scheduled for February 8. A complete list of event dates can be found on the hotel's Web site.
