After the Grammys returned to New York after five years in Los Angeles, Sony Music's big after-party returned to its last Manhattan venue—the Hammerstein Ballroom—along with the same event production company that produced Sony's last two Gotham Grammy parties. This year EventQuest transformed the ballroom with sloping spandex creations by Gisela Stromeyer Designs and a colored lighting design that changed throughout the party by theater designer Ben Stanton.
EventQuest creative director Mark Veeder and artistic director Dyan Garza designed a large fabric sculpture that rose up to the ceiling in the center of the room and arced down around the walls to carve out intimate nooks in the vast space. Dorian Orange projected colorful designs that changed throughout the party onto the fabric.
A guest list of 700 music execs and artists—including Diana Ross, Tony Bennett, the Dixie Chicks, and Sharon and Kelly Osbourne—noshed on food from Taste Caterers served at buffet tables decorated with woven bamboo mats and orchids draped over copper orbs.
