One of the latest new venues to open in the thriving Brickell area is Baru Urbano, which debuted in February. The restaurant and bar serves blended international cuisine from various Latin American and European countries in an urban environment catering to groups as large as 200.
The 3,000-square-foot space has slanted wood panel ceilings and is decorated with wall-to-wall murals painted by street artist Andres Risquez.
The main dining room can seat 200 people, or accommodate as many as 400 for receptions. For smaller parties there are three outdoor spaces. The 800-square-foot covered front patio can seat 50, while the two back deck areas can host 60 each.
Latin American staples like fried yucca and guasacaca (Venezuelan relish) dot the menu, which is rounded out with flavors from Thailand, Columbia, and Italy.
