Here's a look at two new spots in the Lakeview neighborhood suitable for hosting laid-back events.
1. Named after a neighborhood in Dublin, Temple Bar opened earlier this month. With an 18-foot bar, eight plasma-screen TVs, and black-and-white photographs of British rockers, the pub is available for buyout and can host events for 120. Smaller sections also can be reserved. A menu of Irish fare includes chicken curry, Guinness beef stew, and fish and chips, while the drinks list offers flights of whiskey and 11 beers on tap.
2. Billed as a contemporary neighborhood bar, Cuna opened in December. A lounge area known as the Den can host private events for 60. The 6,000-square-foot space is also available for full buyout, and can hold 200 for receptions. Former Sepia chef Kendal Duque offers a seasonal menu of flatbreads, soups, salads, and entrees served in portions referred to as "Small Bites" or "Big Bites." Selections may include mint pasta ribbons with lamb, pork rillette with golden raisin jam and crostini, and grilled Amish chicken breast with sourdough bread salad.
