Last week, the U.S. Olympic Committee released the list of sponsors that will support the U.S. Olympic team when it rolls into Beijing in 2008 for both the summer games and Paralympic games. According to Brandweek, 36 sponsors and 33 licensees have signed on. Included in the top-tier "Partners" category are Coca-Cola, AT&T, Bank of America, Anheuser-Busch, GE, General Motors, Home Depot, McDonald's, Visa, and Panasonic. Nike, United Airlines, and Allstate are inthe second-tier "Sponsors" category, and third-tier "Suppliers" include DHL, Kimberly-Clark, and Roots Canada.
NBC will broadcast the Olympics through the 2012 summer games in London. The USOC embarked on a three-day tour last week of U.S. cities bidding for the 2016 games: San Francisco, Chicago, and Los Angeles are in the running; the USOC will decide by the end of the year if it will submit an American bid to the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The IOC is expected to select a 2016 games site in 2009.
