While Valentine's Day events typically take on a red or pink color scheme, it can still feel unexpected. At Netflix's Golden Globes party in January, the brand worked with Swisher Productions to produce an elegant bash with an all-red color scheme. The dramatic decor extended to a wall of roses situated above the bar.

Catering came from Joe Flamm, the executive chef of Spiaggia in Chicago. In partnership with Levy Restaurants, Flamm's menu was designed to complement the theme with four Renaissance-inspired food stations. The beginning of the night saw tray-passed appetizers such as beef shank and frutti di mare. Later in the evening, food stations called “Venice,” “Glamorous,” and “Renaissance” served a variety of dishes, many that were vegan, gluten-free, or nut- and shellfish-free. Dessert (pictured) took on a carnival theme, with gelato pops, French macarons, and mini eclairs and tarts.

HBO's "Sharp Objects" Screening Event
HBO's 'Sharp Objects' Screening Event

Brooklyn-based experiential design agency the Gathery partnered with floral design company Ellen Robin Creative to create an installation for HBO’s Sharp Objects screening event, which took place at the Bowery Hotel in New York in June. Inspired by the mystery drama series, a Ford Crown Victoria covered in floral green wallpaper vinyl was placed outside of the venue, with a backdrop of green branded caution tape.

“I wanted nice green as a base, so I chose Camellia branches for their color, lushness, and nice leaf shape, and smilax vine for that draping quality,” said Ellen Robin, founder of Ellen Robin Creative. “After that, I wanted to bring to life the peach, dusty rose, and cream color story, so I centered on roses of many colors, from quicksand to tiffany, and some really gorgeous beige and dust pink-toned carnations.”

“The natural tones balance the peach and pinks really nicely. I used peonies for a luxe add and the color pop of the brighter frozen raspberry, then added delphiniums and eremurus for height,” added Robin. “Lastly, Virginia creeper and grapevine added texture and dimension for that overgrown, creeping garden look.”

Dream Hotels Pop-Up Car Installation

In June, PHD Terrace at Dream Midtown hotel in New York set the tone for its Amalfi coast-inspired Aperitivo Tuesdays—a weekly happy series—with a pop-up car installation that featured a limited-edition ’84 Alfa Romeo Spider parked curbside. The vintage vehicle, which was provided by the Tao Group, was hand-painted with illustrations inspired by small Italian towns and culinary landmarks like Da Adolfo and Ristorante La Fontelina. The back seat of the vehicle was filled with greenery and lemons. The installation was conceptualized by Yvonne Najor, director of outreach and sponsorships of food and beverage for Dream Midtown and Dream Downtown. Artist Jenevieve Penk designed the installation.
