INDUSTRY NEWS: Cort Events has unveiled a redesigned website. The new site will allow customers to shop event rentals in a Pinterest-style format and access product details directly from event images with a new Inspiration Gallery.

CHICAGO: InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile Hotel has debuted the first phase of a multimillion-dollar renovation of the property’s meeting and event spaces. Phase one included a restoration of several ballrooms and pre-function space. The hotel has more than 45,000 square feet of event space with a capacity of more than 1,000 guests. 

The second annual Farm-to-Festival, a horticulture experience from the Get Growing Foundation in partnership with 811 Chicago and the Department of Planning, will take place July 11-14 during Taste of Chicago. 

DENVER: Le MĂ©ridien Denver Downtown and AC Hotel Denver Downtown have appointed Matthew Ellis assistant manager. 

GREENWICH, CONNECTICUT: Little Beet Table, a gluten-free eatery, has opened its newest location at 376 Greenwich Avenue. Owned and operated by Aurify Brands, the restaurant seats 115 guests. 

LOS ANGELES: Billboard: “Promoters Spaceland Presents and Restless Nites have announced Substance, a two-night event featuring electronic, post-punk, and darkwave acts, running November 1-2 at Los Angeles Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles.”

NEW ORLEANS: Mixtroz, a tech startup that facilitates face-to-face connection at events and data collection, participated in events at the 25th annual Essence Festival. Co-founders Kerry Schrader and Ashlee Ammons participated in a “Women in Technology” panel discussion hosted by Women's Business Enterprise Council on July 4. On July 6, Schrader and Ammons were featured guests and speakers at an event hosted by Bronze Valley.

NEW YORK: The New-York Historical Society will host the Revolutionary Drag Tea Party on July 12. The event will have a Revolutionary War theme and will be hosted by drag performer Murray Hill. 

North 3rd Street Market’s Summer Block Party will take place July 13 in Williamsburg. The event is now free of charge, and vendors will include Brooklyn Shave Ice, Diggy’s Dogs, and Bun.

Japanese restaurant Aburiya Kinnosuke has reopened in Midtown. Kazuki Uchida and Kazuya Saito are the new executive chefs of the restaurant, which was acquired by Create Restaurants N.Y. earlier this year.

Together, the companies will aim to reduce the event industry’s environmental footprint by upcycling event signage and materials into unique products. 

Global DMC Partners, a network of destination management companies, has acquired Sunlinc and Panama Journeys. Sunlinc is a DMC for the West Indies and Panama Journeys is a family-run DMC for FIT and MICE groups.
