INDUSTRY NEWS: The American Rental Association’s new five-year forecast reports equipment and event rental revenues in North America will surpass $71 billion in 2023, which includes $64.7 billion in the United States and $6.4 billion in Canada.

LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO: The Las Cruces Convention Center has added 17,000 square feet of additional meeting and event space to the existing 55,000-square-foot venue. The 16-month project added meeting, breakout, and support spaces, as well as entrance areas.

LOS ANGELES: Traveling outdoor cinema series Eat See Hear will host a 30th anniversary screening of Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing on August 24 at Santa Monica High School Amphitheater. Alternative pop singer DeQn Sue will perform and local food trucks will serve eats prior to the screening. 

Event catering and design company Schaffer has appointed Melissa Darpino sales and marketing director.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: Feeding South Florida’s second annual South Florida Food Insecurity Summit will take place September 12 at Signature Grand. The event is part of the hunger-relief organization’s participation in Feeding America’s nationwide initiative, Hunger Action Month.

NASHVILLE: Press release: Accor, Hilton, InterContinental Hotels Group, and Marriott International have invested a combined $50 million in meetings industry company Groups360, in an effort to evolve the GroupSync platform and simplify group travel for meeting planners.

The 10th annual Taste Williamsburg Greenpoint will take place September 15 at East River State Park. Featuring local vendors like Tacocina, Leuca, and Barano, the event benefits Firehouse North Brooklyn Community Center.

DKNY celebrates its 30th anniversary this fall and has launched a new ad campaign featuring Halsey and the Martinez Brothers. The designer brand will host a birthday celebration during New York Fashion Week.

TORONTO: The 30th annual Word on the Street Festival will take place September 21-22 at Harbourfront Centre. The event will feature more than 200 on stage and more than 270 book and magazine exhibitors at an outdoor marketplace.
