INDUSTRY NEWS: The International Live Events Association (ILEA) has announced five event professionals who earned the Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) designation in the July 2019 testing window. The individuals are Sammerleigh Becchetti of Salt River Project in Phoenix; Robert Brown of McLean Community Center in Washington; Theresa Lind of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia; Rachel Podolsky of Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco; and Luna Tolunay of Fun Planners in Orlando.

ATLANTA: Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau has appointed Brad Minton sales manager of  national accounts and Treasure Williams manager of sales. 

CHICAGO: Raised, an Urban Rooftop Bar, located at Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel, will celebrate Halloween by serving cocktails inspired by slasher films on October 31. The bar also will feature slasher-theme decor and stations. 

LAS VEGAS: GES has promoted Jay Altizer to global president and has named Ian Dunhill executive vice president of finance. 

LOS ANGELES: Ian Schrager’s West Hollywood Edition hotel will open November 12. The 190-room hotel will have a ‘60s- and ‘70s-theme subterranean club, a 4,516-square-foot spa, and a vegetable-forward restaurant from chef John Fraser. 

The American Music Awards will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater on November 24 on ABC.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: Feeding South Florida will have an opening event and ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new food pantry in the City of North Miami on October 25. 

NEW YORK: Gilda’s Club New York City, a cancer support organization named in honor of the late Gilda Radner, will hold its 24th annual gala on November 7 at the Pierre Hotel. Hosted by Bill Ritter, the event will honor Vanessa Bayer, Donald Deieso, Ph.D., and Lewis C. Cantley, Ph.D.

Baked Bazaar, an online marketplace for CBD products, will host a pop-up November 8-10 at 349 West Broadway. 

The 19th annual 24 Hour Plays Broadway Gala, honoring Kathy Bates, will take place November 18 at the Laura Pels Theater. 

The HSMAI Marketing Strategy Conference will take place January 22 at New York Marriott Marquis. 

NORWALK, CONNECTICUT: Reed Exhibitions Americas has appointed Randy Field G.V.P. of Portfolio Leader. Field will be responsible for event brands including the National Hardware Show, Bar Convent Brooklyn, and Fastener Fair U.S.A.
