DALLAS/FORT WORTH: The N.C.A.A. National Collegiate Women’s Gymnastics Championships will take place April 17-18, 2020, at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth.

LOS ANGELES: This year’s Vulture Festival presented by AT&T takes place November 9-10 at the Hollywood Roosevelt. Speakers and talent include Alison Brie, America Ferrera, David Chang, Elisabeth Moss, and Justina Machado. 

Allison Lesser is the new director of sales and marketing at the 199-room Hotel Maya, a DoubleTree by Hilton, in Long Beach. Lesser has previously served as vice president of business development at BTS Hospitality, vice president of event sales for Patina Restaurant Group, and vice president of sales for the Long Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: Professor Patrick “Chip” Cassidy, founder and director of the Wine Program at the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Florida International University, passed away on October 28 in home hospice care. The cause of death was complications from esophageal cancer. Cassidy was known in South Florida as “Miami’s Wine Guru.”

NEW ORLEANS: The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation will hold the 12th annual Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival November 16-17 in Louis Armstrong Park. The event is combined with the Congo Square Rhythms Festival. 

NEW YORK: LDV Events will offer catering and event production services for the James New York - NoMad Hotel.
