CANADA: Casa Loma's Halloween Walking Tour, Telus Spark's Great Pumpkin Smash Event, Vancouver Writers Fest, and More

NATIONAL: The Petty estate announced that the Tom Petty Birthday Bash will take place virtually on Oct. 23 with five hours of performances, testimonials, and tributes to the American songwriter from fans including Stevie Nicks, Post Malone, and the Foo Fighters. The event aims to raise awareness for various nonprofits including Save Our Stages (NIVA), an organization fighting to preserve independent music venues during COVID-19.

CALGARY: Telus Spark will host its Great Pumpkin Smash event from Oct. 30-31. The event will focus on the physics of catapults, with the Okotoks Optimist Club launching pumpkins, plus live science shows, meet-and-greets with reptiles, and more. Tickets will begin at $26 for adults, and attendees dressed in Halloween costumes will receive 20% off Spark Store purchases. 

MONTREAL: The â€śParanormal Investigation—Old Sainte Antoine Cemetery” ghost walk takes place in Montreal Oct. 23. Guests will get tips on sensing and communicating with spirits and learn how to use ghost-hunting tools including dowsing rods, EMF readers, and temperature guns. 

TORONTO: Liberty Entertainment Group is hosting a Halloween-themed, self-guided walking tour of Casa Loma. From now through Nov. 1, elaborate Halloween sets have been placed throughout the historic castle's five acres; tickets can be purchased online to tour the sets from Wednesday to Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

VANCOUVER: The 30th annual Vancouver Writers Fest began Monday with a fully virtual experience. The event, taking place through Oct. 25, includes 40 different gatherings and features 65 authors, poets, and artists such as Kevin Kwan from Crazy Rich Asians and historian Margaret MacMillan.
