NATIONAL: The Canadian Live Music Association has partnered with supply chain software company Kinaxis to launch a concert series supporting Canadian musicians and music venues. Roughly 30 shows will be livestreamed from venues across the country, and applications from performers and venues are being accepted until Feb. 28. Kinaxis has contributed a $250,000 sponsorship to fund the series.
EDMONTON: The Edmonton Opera has announced a drive-thru Christmas Special that will feature live performances from the roof of the Jube, with music being broadcast through FM radio. Artists from the company's Emerging Artists Studio will sing Christmas carols and festive songs.
TORONTO: Gordon Lightfoot will perform his first full-length livestream concert Dec. 18 from the El Mocambo venue downtown. Called “Streaming the Sundown Live,” the event will be aired at nugs.net beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Tickets are available online starting at $39.99.
Toronto History Museums's new "Awakening" series will feature BIPOC artists as part of an initiative to address racism in the city. The organization will feature monthly virtual art projects across 10 museums in Toronto. This month, the first three Awakening projects launched will be called A Revolution of Love, Behind the Curtain, and We Were Always Here.
VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA: Two editions of the 55+ BC Games are being rescheduled to 2022 due to COVID-19-related precautions. The BC Senior Games Society-run event was originally slated for Sept. 14-16, 2021. The city of Abbotsford, which had been awarded the 2022 games, will now host in 2023.
