US: Critics Choice Awards Go Hybrid, Plus News From Hotels and Virtual Platforms

NATIONAL: The 26th annual Critics Choice Awards will take place March 7 as a hybrid event. Presenters, including host Taye Diggs, will appear live on stage in Los Angeles, while nominees will appear remotely from locations around the world. The event airs on The CW.

Convene—the premium work platform that offers a virtual event platform as well as flex office, meeting and event space—has been named as one of Marriott’s preferred planners for hybrid meetings. Event planners working with Marriott will use Convene’s technology to integrate both virtual participation and in-person experiences.

Hybrid and virtual event platform vFairs is now integrating Zoom into its platform. In addition to accommodating a larger number of attendees, the new integration means that remote speakers can address an on-premise audience and broadcast to remote attendees simultaneously, including handling questions from both groups in real time.

TAMPA: The 230-room Hyatt Place Tampa Downtown and 115-room Hyatt House Tampa Downtown, the first combined Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels located in downtown Tampa, are now open. The 17-story building offers 3,600 square feet of meeting and event space, plus a heated rooftop pool, a fitness center, a lobby-level restaurant and ground-floor retail space.

WASHINGTON, DC: The Hamilton Hotel has launched a “WFH: Work From Hamilton” package that allows guests to rent a hotel room during business hours, giving them access to high-speed Wi-Fi, in-room breakfast and other amenities, including access to PressReader, a digital platform with over 7,000 publications in 200 languages. Rates begin at $79 for a standard room.
