CANADA: CityView Drive-In’s Reopening, Virtual Literary and Film Festivals and More

NATIONAL: The ISSA Show Canada, an annual conference for the cleaning industry, is going virtual for 2021. The event’s theme will be Facing the Future Together and will include keynotes, education sessions, supplier technology sessions and virtual networking receptions. It takes place June 17.

MONTREAL: The 2021 Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival takes place April 24 to May 2. The virtual event will feature more than 50 panels and interviews centered around the theme of “the challenges of our times.”

TORONTO: CityView Drive-In will reopen on May 7 at 20 Polson Street. The contactless, waterfront drive-in theater will host concerts and movies; guests can bring their own food and non-alcoholic drinks or order and have items delivered to car windows. 

VANCOUVER: SFU School for Communication, Art and Technology presented the second annual Skoden Indigenous Film Festival from March 26-27. The virtual event featured five curated programs, each featuring a selection of movies as well as prerecorded Q&As with creators. 

WHISTLER: Nordiq Canada has announced that the 94th Canadian Ski Championships will be held at Whistler Olympic Park from March 20-27, 2022. Hosted by Callaghan Valley’s Black Tusk Nordic Events Society, the event serves as a dry run for the Nordic Junior/U23 World Ski Championships, which are slated to be held in Whistler in 2023.
