GLOBAL: EventsAIR is launching OnAIR v5, a hybrid event solution and 3D experience taking place within a virtual event environment. On March 25, ahead of the launch, event planners were given early access to the software and were able to take part in three 90-minute boot camps to learn the basics of creating and configuring an immersive OnAIR event. Future event planners will be able to customize exhibition halls, add sponsored or branded advertisements, text chat and much more.
Caribbean resort Curtain Bluff in Antigua is temporarily closing its doors May 31 through October 23 to undergo renovations designed to amplify the guest experience. Upgrades will include elevated pool areas, plus an improved gym, yoga deck and more. The all-inclusive resort boasts 72 rooms and suites spanning 20 acres, and the reopening will also mark the celebration of Curtain Bluff’s 60th season.
CALGARY: The 2021 National Geographic Live speaker series event is being hosted virtually by Art Commons on April 12, May 10 and June 7 at 7 p.m. The 10th annual show will feature livestreams of online speakers who will transport attendees to extraordinary places with awe-inspiring photos and stories about their travels around the world. The event is free, and advance registration is required via Art Commons’ website.
TORONTO: Beyond Monet: The Immersive Experience has announced its world premiere will take place in Toronto at the Metro Toronto Convention Center this summer. The cinematic experience was created by Normal Studio and produced by Beyond Exhibitions Inc., and aims to bring Monet’s work to life as an audiovisual journey. The installation will be open to the public and suitable for people of all ages.
VANCOUVER: The 2021 Wounded Warriors Run has officially been canceled after new restrictions were put into place in British Columbia. However, through sponsorships and donations, event organizers were still able to raise $80,000 to bring awareness to Wounded Warriors Canada, a nonprofit organization that aims to help injured service members. The 2021 team of eight runners is already looking forward to returning in 2022 to run the length of Vancouver Island within eight days, covering more than 600 kilometers.
