NATIONAL: A free, virtual Earth Day event is taking place today from 12-1 p.m. ET. Hosted by Elevate, a nonprofit that aims to unify Canadian innovators to solve challenges, the gathering will feature former U.S. Vice President Al Gore discussing the role of tech and innovation in shaping the future of the planet. Elevate and Mackenzie Investments are partnering with Tree Canada to sponsor a tree for the first 2,000 attendees.

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND: PEI's Cavendish Beach Music Festival, originally slated for July 9-11, has been canceled for the second year, according to organizers Whitecap Entertainment. The country music festival, which had attracted 25,000 people in recent years, may host small events later this summer; in 2020, the team hosted four drive-in concerts featuring local acts.

QUEBEC CITY: The Québec City Convention Centre has opened a new multifunctional broadcasting room, designed for hosting hybrid and virtual events of all kinds. It's equipped with a large stage, LED screens, a lighting and sound system and space for 250 people.

TORONTO: The Clark Centre for the Arts is undergoing a renovation by Taylor Hazell Architects. The new multipurpose facility will include a public gallery, five specialized art studios and two on-site cabins, along with 6,000 square feet of dedicated studio, exhibition and event space. It’s expected to open by 2022.

VANCOUVER: The Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival is hosting a drive-thru event in Cloverdale from April 24-25. Trucks will be parked near Shannon Hall on the rodeo fairgrounds, and admission will be free for vehicles. It’s part of a drive-thru series for the six-year-old festival; events are also taking place in Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Maple Ridge.
