NATIONAL: With the goal of connecting more women with disabilities to opportunities in Paralympic sports and attracting more female athletes, the Canadian Paralympic Committee is hosting a virtual event from June 5-6. Called Connection 2021, the gathering will feature information sessions, interactive workshops and other engagement opportunities.

The two-day virtual summit is designed to help event industry professionals prepare for the return of live events post-COVID-19. MONTREAL: Adam Bultz and Lorne Levitt, the team behind last summer’s Royalmount Drive-In Event Theatre, plan to open a hybrid indoor-outdoor venue called the Garden Royalmount Event Theatre this summer. The venue, which will host public events and also be available for private rentals, is a 15,000-square-foot space that allows for different furniture configurations to accommodate social distancing; there’s also a massive outdoor garden area.
ST. JOHN’S, NEWFOUNDLAND: St. John’s will host the Canada Summer Games in 2025, the city’s first time hosting the event since 1977. The games are the country’s marquee multisport event for amateur sports; they’re expected to draw 2,000 athletes and 20,000 people to the city from Aug. 2-25, 2025.
TORONTO: Depending on the status of Ontario’s stay-at-home order, Toronto’s Casa Loma hopes to open its new Imagine Dragons Light Forest experience on May 20. The medieval-themed, self-guided tour takes attendees on a 2-kilometer walk through the castle’s grounds, where they’ll pass life-sized dragons, immersive light displays, live performances from battling knights and more.
