NATIONAL: The Events Industry Council (EIC) has named Augustine "Gus" Chijioke as its new director of certification and education. In the role, he’ll be responsible for directing the CMP and CMP-HC credentialing programs and continue to grow and develop the organization’s products and services.

EDMONTON: Taste of Edmonton, billed as the largest outdoor food festival in Canada, will begin on July 22 and run until Aug. 1 at Churchill Square. More than 50 restaurants will be participating, and there will also be vendors providing gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options. This year, the festival is also hosting a raffle with the chance to win up to $50,000.

TORONTO: Liberty Entertainment group announced that "Imagine Dragons—Light Forest," an immersive theater experience, will take place at Casa Loma from July 21 through the end of August. The show is a self-guided, 2-kilometer tour through a display of lights and lasers against a medieval backdrop. Tickets for the family-friendly experience are available now.

VANCOUVER: TGS will host Pinnacle, Canada’s first post-pandemic Esports event, from Oct. 8-10 at the Vancouver Convention Center. There will be a $2,000 prize pool, and the event expects to draw more than 2,000 guests from across North America for game tournaments, art exhibitions and more.

WINNIPEG: Folklorama, Winnipeg's long-running multicultural festival, will be held virtually this year from Aug. 6-8. Called Folklorama Fusion, the three-day event will showcase different continents each night. The festival was canceled in 2020; instead, organizers hosted a community scavenger hunt.
