NATIONAL: Technology-enabled services company Intrado Corporation recently announced a new partnership with cloud-based interpretation service Interprefy. The partnership will allow for the live delivery of multilingual audio content using Intrado’s webcasting platform, Studio. There are 26 different languages clients can use in real time to overlay audio content in video presentations.
Live Nation Canada has announced that as of Oct. 4, all artists and fans at its shows and venues will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test. The protocol will apply to both indoor and outdoor events and festivals. The global event company has already instituted the policy at events and festivals across the U.S. and U.K., including Lollapalooza in Chicago.
MONTREAL: Startupfest will not be hosting an in-person festival this year. In its place, organizers of the tech-industry event are exploring the idea of more intimate gatherings this winter, leading up to Startupfest 2022 taking place in the spring. The festival has been hosting a series of virtual workshops throughout the pandemic.
WATERLOO, ONTARIO: Kitchener Waterloo Oktoberfest will be back for its 53rd year starting Sept. 24. The event will run over three weekends with both virtual and in-person events until it wraps up on Thanksgiving with a virtual parade. Frontline healthcare workers will be recognized on this year's pin, along with mascot Onkel Hans.
VANCOUVER: TAIWANfest returns to Vancouver this year from Sept. 4-12. The event will be held downtown at Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza, with in-person events as well as virtual. The Global BC-sponsored event will feature workshops, food, music and more centered around the theme of Re-think Asia, focused on Taiwan and South Korea, this year’s featured country.
