CALGARY: Calgary Sports and Entertainment is now requiring proof of vaccination for games and other live events held at Calgary’s Scotiabank Saddledome and McMahon Stadium. Negative COVID tests cannot be substituted as proof. In addition, masks will be required at all times at the Scotiabank Saddledome and recommended at McMahon Stadium.
SYDNEY, NOVA SCOTIA: Lumière Cape Breton, a free, annual contemporary arts festival, kicked off its 10th annual celebration last weekend with its Art-at-Night feature event. The festival highlights all forms of art, including music, live dance, plays, films and art installations.
TORONTO: The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) will be bringing back its virtual convention from Oct. 20-21. The event will have a hybrid format, as certain elements will be broadcast live from a studio. Highlights include a keynote address from Seth Godin, as well as breakout sessions, learning labs, panels and more.
Escape the Ghost Ship is a new Halloween-themed escape game from Pirate Life held on a ship in the Toronto harbor; it launched on Sept. 24 and runs through Oct. 31. Teams are made up of four to six people, and players must solve digital clues and challenges in 75 minutes to complete the game. Tickets are $59 and must be purchased online in advance.
VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA: A new 139-room hotel is coming to Old Town, in the space housing the 127-year-old Duck’s Building and the adjacent Duck’s Carriage Factory. The hotel will be Hyatt-Centric branded property and is expected to cover almost a full block of Broad Street.
