CANADA: Beyond Van Gogh Extended Twice, Canadian Tire Christmas Trail Returns This Year, Free Museum Days at The McCord and More

CALGARY: The wildly popular Beyond Van Gogh exhibit has been extended for the second time. Originally slated to be open through Sept. 6, and then Oct. 8, the exhibit will now reopen from Oct. 23 to Nov. 28 at the BMO Centre. The immersive digital gallery showcases over 300 of the artist’s works projected on the walls and ceilings.

MONTREAL: Montreal's McCord Museum will offer free admission for 100 days, starting Oct. 13, in celebration of its upcoming 100th anniversary. The museum will be hosting several anticipated exhibits including ones centered on Indigenous art, 1980s fashion and the holidays. Admission will be free until Jan.19, 2022.

People in Montreal were invited to participate in a free “cuddle therapy” session in honor of World Mental Health Day on Oct. 10. The event centered around a video called Human Weighted Blanket from British-Canadian artist Joshua Oliver, aka Red Jay, in which the weighted blanket consists of four touch therapists who focus on how physical contact can help with feelings of isolation.

ST. CATHARINES, ONTARIO: Bravo Niagara! recently announced its 2021 TD Jazz Series and Voices of Freedom Concert lineup. The event will kick off on Oct. 16 with the Laila Biali trio. Other performers include Sultans of String, Pavlo and Molly Johnson. The concert will be held at St. Catharines' FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre this year.

TORONTO: The Canadian Tire Christmas Trail, a drive-thru light festival, is returning next month. The drive is a little under a mile and will include over a thousand different lights, special appearances by Christmas characters and live performances. Tickets go on sale on Nov. 8 and are priced at $25 per car. This year, the festival will run from Nov. 13 to Dec. 23.
