NATIONAL: Facebook is hosting its eighth annual Connect Event virtually this year on Oct. 28. The event, which will showcase the brand's latest innovations in AR/VR as well as Facebook's vision for the metaverse, is free to all attendees and will begin with a keynote address followed by various breakout and development sessions.
MONTREAL: The National Career Event Job Fair will be a hybrid event this year. The in-person portion will be held at the Palais des congrès de Montréal from Oct. 27-28, and the virtual will be held from Nov. 3-4. Organizers predict that over 8,000 jobs will be available throughout the duration of the fair.
TORONTO: Radiant Journey, a new installation found on University Avenue, is set to brighten up the Discovery District. The setup will feature unique and dramatic fixtures with over 25,000 LED lights. The Friends of University Avenue spearheaded the project, and the second part will be coming in early 2022.
The Toronto International Festival of Authors is holding its 42nd annual event virtually this year. There are more than 200 events running from Oct. 21-31, including author readings and discussions. All events are free, but attendees must be registered to reserve a spot.
UXBRIDGE, ONTARIO: Farmhouse Garden Animal Home, located about an hour from Toronto, opened its doors for Halloween this past weekend. Attendees could trick-or-treat around the farm, go on a haunted hayride, shop from local vendors and help feed the farm’s 25 rescued cows. The proceeds from ticket sales went towards care for the animals.
