NATIONAL: Blackthorn.io, a platform that deals with event management and payment processing solutions on Salesforce, has acquired Textey.io, an SMS solutions provider for the Salesforce community which will be offered via the Salesforce AppExchange. Blackthorn.io customers will now be able to send Paylink transactions to customers via SMS with a shortened URL, making for faster and more successful mobile payments.
Omni Hotels & Resorts has announced the senior leadership appointment of Peter Palli as chief commercial officer. Palli will be responsible for all revenue generating efforts across sales, marketing, revenue management, distribution and analytics, as well as operations at the Omni customer-contact center. With 25 years of experience, Palli joins Omni from Signature Aviation, where he was vice president of revenue management and analytics, leading efforts to digitize the commercial operation.
LOS ANGELES: The SAG Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment will be presented to actress Helen Mirren. Mirren is the 57th recipient of SAG-AFTRA's highest tribute and will be honored at the 28th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which will be broadcast live on TNT and TBS on Feb. 27 from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.
ORLANDO/CENTRAL FLORIDA: Orlando World Center Marriott plans to add 24 meeting rooms of 1,200 square feet each, adding 60,000 square feet of total space and bringing the property’s event space to over 500,000 square feet. The new meeting space, called Magnolia, will enhance the hotel’s existing convention center and provide even more options for planners.
SAN DIEGO: The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina has started an $88 million renovation to upgrade and refurbish its 97,000 square feet of meeting space. These spaces include two main ballrooms, a new outdoor pavilion, a lower level ballroom and foyer and multiple breakout rooms. To accommodate the trend towards hybrid meetings, Sheraton San Diego has partnered with local audiovisual integrator Fluid Sound to create a Zoom Broadcast Room.
