CANADA: The First-Ever Women’s Challenger Event, The Canadian Tulip Festival’s 70th Anniversary and More

CALGARY: Jubilations Junior is putting on the production Skooby Doob and the Haunted Race Track from April 9-May 28, complete with a three-course lunch menu with kids in mind. Selections include a fresh vegetable plate, a choice of entrees and ice cream for dessert. Tickets start at $36.95 for children 12 and under, and $39.95 for guests 13 and over.

Organizers of the Calgary National Bank Challenger announced that, for the first time, the tennis tournament will include a women’s pro event. The inaugural event—dubbed the International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Tour Pro Circuit Women’s $25K—is set to take place Nov. 6-13 at the Osten & Victor Alberta Tennis Centre (ATC) in conjunction with the Men’s Challenger match. The Challenger will feature the best rising stars in women’s tennis across the globe, and will also be the only combined professional indoor tennis tournament in Canada.

OTTAWA: The Canadian Tulip Festival is celebrating its 70th anniversary as it returns to in-person programming from May 13-23 this year. Designed to honor Canada’s role in the liberation of the Netherlands during the Second World War, guests of the free festival can enjoy a 45-minute guided tour through Commissioners Park. There will also be new night programming, where tulip beds will come to life on a blacklight boardwalk, plus daily Tulip Bingo games, exhibits and more.

TORONTO: The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) will be performing at Roy Thomson Hall on April 1 at 7:30 p.m. and on April 2 at 8:00 p.m. The show marks acclaimed conductor Eun Sun Kim’s debut with the TSO as she leads the orchestra in Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2. Tickets are available on the TSO’s website and range from $54-$163.

VANCOUVER: The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival (VCBF) is returning this spring for its 16th edition from April 1-23. The festival will include a series of live, public events across the city, including The Big Picnic at David Lam Park on April 2 and Sakura Days at VanDusen Botanical Garden April 9-10. Information regarding events throughout the month can be found on VCBF’s website.
