GLOBAL: Global private equity firm the Riverside Company has invested in EventsAIR, an Australian events management software solutions provider for in-person, virtual and hybrid events. Matthew Donegan-Ryan has joined the business as CEO, effective April 1. Donegan-Ryan brings years of event technology domain expertise and experience working with event planners, most recently holding roles at Hopin, Swapcard and Cvent.
NATIONAL: Bizzabo co-founders Alon Alroy, Boaz Katz and Eran Ben-Shushan have released a book called Event Success: Maximizing the Business Impact of In-Person, Virtual and Hybrid Experiences. The co-founders leverage their event industry expertise to explore how data, audience engagement and technology drive event impact. Event Success explores the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting opportunity to reinvent in-person, virtual and hybrid event experiences.
Questex has repositioned and renamed its Event Operations Division. Now named Event Performance, this team supports Questex’s strategy of focusing on the experience economy with a laser focus on customer engagement at all touchpoints, both on and offline. Kirstin Lewis leads the global Event Performance team and is now joined by new leadership talent and a new management structure: Chris Correa is responsible for trade shows; Rowan Scahill manages events in Europe, the Middle East and Africa; Dawn Walton leads conferences and hosted buyer events and Molly Witges heads customer engagement.
TORONTO: Community Environment Days have returned for the first time since 2019, hosted by the City of Toronto. The city and local councillors will host a total of 44 in-community events this year across all 25 wards, providing residents with opportunities to drop off unwanted items for reuse, recycling and safe disposal. Community Environment Days began on April 2 and run until the end of July.
VANCOUVER: Destination Vancouver and Capilano University have teamed up to launch a unique course of research designed to quantify the tangible and intangible impacts, benefits and legacies associated with Vancouver’s role as host city for international conferences, congresses and events. Research findings will be shared with members of the BestCities Global Alliance.
