NATIONAL: Convene, a business hospitality company that provides premium physical, virtual and hybrid meeting and workplace solutions, is announcing a major internal promotion: Current head of technology Patrick Conroy has been named chief technology officer. Conroy has more than 20 years of experience building and managing high-growth start-ups. He will continue to lead all of Convene’s internal technology systems and processes, as well as oversee the company’s progress on its Studio product—a virtual and hybrid events platform that can accommodate meetings for up to 10,000 virtual attendees, including full production services.
Omni Hotels & Resorts joins organizations across the globe to celebrate Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) on April 7. GMID is an annual moment to spotlight the importance and benefits of in-person, professional meetings and events. In support of the holiday, Omni is donating one meal for every group room in house during the week of Global Meetings Industry Day, for a total of 50,000 meals to support Feeding America through its Say Goodnight to Hunger program.
LOS ANGELES: InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown has appointed David Wolfskill to chef de cuisine of the recently reopened La Boucherie. Wolfskill brings more than 25 years of culinary experience, and will oversee the creative menu development of the sky-high steakhouse, located on the 71st floor of the tallest building west of Chicago. He will work alongside the 889-room hotel’s executive chef, Daniel Fennessy, leading La Boucherie’s day-to-today operations. Prior to the steakhouse's reopening, Wolfskill cultivated a new menu featuring premium, sustainably sourced meat and seafood, vegetarian and vegan options, as well as a Wine Spectator award-winning list of over 1,000 hand-selected wines.
NEW YORK: Earlier this week, beauty brand e.l.f. Cosmetics celebrated its collaboration with coffee brand Dunkin' Donuts with a pop-up produced by creative marketing and communications agency Shadow. Located at 414 West 14th St., the event took place in effort to help participants learn more about e.l.f.'s new seven-piece coffee-and-donut-inspired makeup collection. Global artistry manager Anna Bynum was on-site giving out brew-tiful eyeshadow touch-ups, and guests were sent off with new goodies from e.l.f. and Dunkin’. The collaboration launched March 31 exclusively to e.l.f.'s Beauty Squad (the e.l.f. loyalty program) on elfcosmetics.com, April 1 to all consumers on elfcosmetics.com and April 3 in ULTA Beauty stores and ulta.com.
WASHINGTON, DC: The ninth annual Washington Women in Journalism Awards will take place April 28. Jointly hosted by Washingtonian CEO Catherine Merrill and Story Partners’ founder and chairman Gloria Story Dittus, the event will take place at the Larz Anderson House at 6 p.m. and will honor four of Washington’s top female political reporters. The honorees include ABC’s Martha Raddatz with the Hall of Fame Achievement Award; CNN’s Kaitlan Collins’ as Outstanding Journalist in Broadcast Television; The Washington Post’s Kathleen Parker as Outstanding Journalist in Print; and NPR’s Ayesha Rascoe as a Star to Watch.
