BOSTON: State-of-the-art music venue Roadrunner opened in Boston late March and is hosting an invite-only “Grand Opening Special Events Showcase” on May 18. The night will give guests an exclusive look into the venue’s amenities, including its 3,500-seat auditorium, 60-foot stage and multilevel, designated event spaces. Roadrunner’s live events calendar is already packed and star-studded, including performances by Olivia Rodrigo, Disclosure, and Koe Wetzel with Tim Montana and David Wheeler, scheduled for May 3, 6, and 12, respectively.
CHICAGO: Pixar Putt, an open-air mini-golf experience, is slated to pop up in Chicago on May 28. All 18 holes feature fun, interactive elements inspired by Disney and Pixar’s beloved stories, characters, and icons, including Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo and Coco, just to name a few. Co-presented by Rockefeller Productions and TEG Life Like Touring, the golf course will be at the Polk Bros Navy Pier through Aug. 21, and tickets are now on sale via Pixar Putt’s website, starting at $27.50.
In honor of May as Mental Health Awareness Month, the Small Business Advocacy Council (SBAC) and Safe Haven are hosting “Rebound on the Rooftop” on SBAC’s rooftop on Clark Street on May 11 at 6 p.m. The evening of fundraising and celebration will honor the work of both organizations, and funds will support the homeless population and advocate for the small business community by encouraging homeless individuals to get jobs at small businesses, which are struggling to find employees. Aspiring attendees can register for the event on SBAC’s website or make a monetary donation to help support the event’s mission.
LOS ANGELES: Unique Markets—part-trade show, part-pop-up featuring small, lesser-known brands and artists—returns to the California Center May 7-8 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Over the course of the weekend, there will be 150 emerging brands, designers, and up-and-coming artists to support and shop from. Attendees will also receive Unique Markets’ limited edition spring tote, plus drinks, DIY stationary, portraits, and prints—all for free. Tickets are $15 on Unique Markets’ website and can also be purchased at the door.
NEW YORK: The Brooklyn Public Library hosted a “People’s Ball” on May 1 ahead of the invite-only, $35,000-per-ticket, famed Met Gala. The free event was held in celebration of the library’s 125th anniversary and invited New Yorkers to express their individuality and showcase their unique style on an inclusive red carpet before dancing the night away. Authors Isaac Fitzgerald and Scaachi Koul hosted the evening, which also featured live performances and fashion curators.
