CANADA: A Dinosaur-Themed Dinner, the Centre for Sexuality’s Anniversary Drag Show, Harbour Air's New Route, and More

GLOBAL: Travel and entertainment company Atlas Obscura has announced its highly anticipated lineup of trips slated for 2023. There will be seven never-before-seen itineraries, including a 10-day trip to Peru where participants will go beyond Machu Picchu to the legendary Nazca Lines and one of the last Incan rope bridges. A nine-day trip to Barcelona and Catalonia is also on the schedule, where guests will explore the culture, history, and architectural gems of the destination. And itineraries in Nova Scotia, New Zealand, Costa Rica, and more are also on the lineup, which can be viewed in full on Atlas Obscura’s website.

ALBERTA: On June 11, Alberta Era—a dinosaur-themed dinner—returns to the Alberta Badlands. The science-meets-culinary event will offer two levels of experiences: a happy hour for $25, which includes live music, canapes, and bar service on the learning level of the Royal Tyrell Museum; and the Alberta Era Dinner for $75, which includes the happy hour experience plus a three-course dinner in the museum’s main-level event space. The dinner menu is inspired by dinosaurs of the Mesozoic Era and will be curated by local chefs Tracy Little, Scott MacKenzie, and Chris Lorenz.

BANFF: The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity has welcomed two new governors to its board: Bob Dhillon, the founder, president, and CEO of Mainstreet Equity Corp.; and Gregorio Oberti, a deals partner at PwC and the leader of the Capital Projects & Infrastructure team in Alberta. Dhillon and Oberti were appointed to the position by the minister of advanced education in Alberta. Dhillon has been recognized twice by the government of Canada for his achievements in business, philanthropy, and higher education. And Oberti, when he’s not in the office, is a sessional instructor at the University of Calgary, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses.

CALGARY: On June 11, Trolley 5 Restaurant & Brewery is hosting a happy hour drag show in support of the Centre for Sexuality’s 50th anniversary. The show will feature local queens Addi Pose, Farrah Nuff, and Hermena. Doors open at 2 p.m., and a reservation via Trolley 5’s website is required to attend. Tickets are $20 and include the show, one drink, and a donation to the Centre for Sexuality.

VANCOUVER: North America’s largest and first fully carbon-neutral airline Harbour Air recently launched a new route that connects downtown Vancouver to the Northern Sunshine Coast town Powell River. The route’s debut eliminates multiple ferry trips and hours of time for travelers looking to access the seaside setting. Other flight routes include panoramic sightseeing tours of Vancouver and flights to Whistler and Victoria. Harbour Air also welcomed back its hour-long seaplane service to and from Seattle and downtown Vancouver in mid-May.
