CANADA: Edmonton Whisky Festival, Twilight Symphony at the Castle, L'Abattoir's Special Dinner Collab, and More

EDMONTON: The Edmonton Whisky Festival will take place Jan. 18 and showcase distillers, master blenders, and a variety of other whisky experts. For one night only, the Delta Edmonton South will transform into a display of some of the world’s best whisky, featuring more than 175 globe-trotting varieties, including selections from Ireland, Scotland, Canada, and the U.S.

TORONTO: Twilight Symphony at the Castle is returning to Toronto’s iconic Casa Loma beginning Feb. 2. The event series—intimate candlelit concerts featuring the Casa Loma Symphony Orchestra that are conducted by renowned maestro Paolo Busato—will take place in the venue's historic stables. Tickets are on sale now and start at $75. Performances are Thursday-Sunday evenings from Feb. 2-12 and Tuesday-Sunday evenings from Feb. 14-March 5.

LuminUltra has partnered with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority to implement a cutting-edge, on-site laboratory to perform wastewater surveillance testing at Pearson International Airport. This pilot project, supported in part by funding from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program, is using LuminUltra's technology to test for the presence of sub-variants of the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron virus as well as Monkeypox in wastewater effluent from planes and airport terminals.

VANCOUVER: Join two of Vancouver's top culinary talents, chef Lee Cooper ofL'Abattoir and his invited guest, chef Alex Chen, for an unforgettable dining experience on Feb. 1. Chef Chen—of Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar and the recently opened Wild Blue Restaurant + Bar in Whistler, B.C.—will work with chef Cooper, as well as L'Abattoir's sommelier, on a dinner that has been years in the making. The event will take place in L'Abattoir's private dining room with guests seated at two communal long tables. Tickets are limited.

VICTORIA, B.C.: Travel publication CondĂ© Nast Traveler has named Victoria as the No. 2 Best Small City in its annual Readers’ Choice Awards. This is the second time Victoria has been named No. 2 Best Small City by the publication, the first occurring in 2017. Victoria’s Magnolia Hotel & Spa was also named No. 14 Best Hotel in Canada in the Readers’ Choice Awards.
