CANADA: The Ice on Whyte Festival, Dress for Success Toronto’s Fundraiser, the Vancouver Winter Pride Festival, and More

GLOBAL: Valor Hospitality Partners—a global, fully integrated management and operations solutions company—has announced its partnership with the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD). The ICD manages a portfolio of commercial companies and investments, and in a joint venture with Valor Hospitality, is set to transition more than 800 keys across popular hotels in the Emirate under Valor’s management. Of those hotels is Dubai’s first five-star property, the Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Deira Creek.

EDMONTON: The 19th annual Ice on Whyte Festival takes place Jan. 24-29 at Dr. Wilbert McIntyre Park. The free event showcases the ice sculptures from the International Ice Carving Competition—one of only three of its kind in Canada. During the event, each team is given 15 blocks of ice and 34 hours to create a sculpture. And following the competition, the sculptures are on display at Ice on Whyte. Guests can even try their hand at carving ice with the on-site L’il & Big Chipper classes, which are designed for participants of all ages.

RED DEER, ALB.: The inaugural Cold Front Music Festival takes place Jan. 27-29 at Bo’s Bar & Stage in Red Deer. Guests can expect music to span rock, folk, and soul with headliners Hannah Georgas, Scenic Route to Alaska, Finn McDowell, and many more. Additional performances will be announced in the coming days. Festival passes are available on TicketWeb starting at $55.

TORONTO: Dress for Success Toronto (DFST) is hosting An Evening with Lisa LaFlamme, presented by RBC Wealth Management, at the Winter Garden Theatre on Jan. 19. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will serve as a fundraiser for DFST, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women to achieve independence. Guests can expect to hear inspiring words from LaFlamme, a renowned Toronto journalist, in an evening hosted by Global News anchor Farah Nasser. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster and start at $95.

VANCOUVER: The Vancouver Pride Society (VPS) is hosting the second annual Vancouver Winter Pride Festival Feb. 18-26 at multiple venues across the city. The event is designed to celebrate the 2SLGBTQIA+ community with dance parties, drag and comedy shows, education sessions, and more. There will also be a celebration of Black History Month on Feb. 23 at the VMF Winter Arts Hub with an event dubbed Periodt: Black Queer Poetry Slam. Tickets are available for purchase on VPS’ website.
